We recently received some IMI Kidons for CZ & Glock model handguns. I took one to the range to test and found it very sturdy and compact enough to use in PCC division. I fitted a Glock 19 gen 4 with a Vortex Sparc AR and shot a good 100 rounds with it with no stoppages or malfunctions.
Apart from PCC, this pistol caliber carbine kit will come in handy for young shooters that want to start shooting. My eight-year-old son was on the range with me that day, as he enjoys shooting as much as I do. He usually only shoots my CZ 83 9mm short as the firearm is small enough for him to reach all the controls and grip it firmly. He asked me if he could try to shoot with the Kidon and naturally, I told him: “Sure, let's see how it goes.”
The fully adjustable stock allowed us to make it short enough for him to hold comfortably and still reach all the important controls. Most important the Kidon was light enough for him to hold. This is always a big plus when it comes to young shooters. I loaded a magazine with four rounds for a start, and he shot at a standard IDPA target about 15m or 20m away and managed a good grouping. I'm looking forward to taking him to a Steel Challenge match. I believe that it would be an ideal start because of the need for accuracy, combined with less movement so they can focus on trigger discipline and aiming.
Overall, the Kidon proved to be great fun for young and all.
