Trijicon HD Night Sights (Shield)

Tritium sights are still the most recommended accessory for a self defense pistol.

With the challenges of law enforcement and military in mind, these sights have a yellow or orange photoluminescent paint outline and tall blade on the front sight to increase visibility and quicken sight acquisition. Additionally, the front surface is steeply hooked to assist in emergency one-handed slide operation.

How it works

Photoluminescent (phosphorous) sights absorb light when exposed to bright light, and emits it for a while afterwards.

Tritium is a gas that glows permanently, hence making the sights visible whenever you need it.

Trijicon's HD range combines a tritium vial with a brightly coloured photoluminescent ring around it. The brightly coloured ring increase visibility during daytime, as well as (when charged) in the dark.

The Trijicon HD and Trijicon HD XR sight sets use the same rear sight, with different width front sights. So the trade-off vs. the XR set makes the front post wider on the HD (less precise sight picture), but the light gaps on the side narrower (more precise sight alignment). See attached picture.
